The construction marks the beginning of a new era for Mayo Clinic in Jacksonville -- a move to realizing their vision of a fully integrated campus. This will make Jacksonville one of only three places to combine a hospital with outpatient, research and educational facilities focusing first and foremost on the patient. The opportunities for the people of Mayo Clinic, their patients and residents of the Southeast are many.

The Mayo Clinic project consist of 214 beds of which are 194 private rooms and 20 semi-private rooms along with 22 operating rooms. The 650,000 square foot project will consist of 500 beds when expanded to 16 floors at a cost of $256.4 million. Completion date is early 2008.

The new teaching and research hospital will be designed to provide state-of-the-art inpatient medical care with maximum efficiency in a friendly, nurturing environment. All aspects of the hospital will reflect Mayo's standards of excellence, focusing on the needs of the patient. Mayo Clinic Hospital will make the Jacksonville campus a rare example of a fully integrated medical center "under one roof."
